FAQs About Sandblasting Services
Is sandblasting expensive?
The cost of sandblasting services depends on the project's size, surface condition, and accessibility. While it may seem costly upfront, sandblasting is a cost-effective way to extend asset life and improve coating performance, making it a worthwhile investment for industrial clients across Toronto and beyond.
Is sandblasting dangerous?
Sandblasting can pose risks like airborne dust and noise, but when performed by trained professionals using proper containment, PPE, and dust suppression—as Induspray does—it is a safe and controlled process. We follow strict safety standards complying with OSHA and Ministry of labour requirements and confined-space protocols for all projects.
Is dry ice blasting better than sandblasting?
Dry ice blasting is useful for delicate surfaces and food-grade environments, but it lacks the surface profiling power and paint striping qualities of traditional abrasive blasting services. For heavy-duty applications like rust removal or coating prep, sandblasting is more effective and long-lasting.
What is the most common application for sandblasting?
The most common application of sandblasting services is surface preparation—removing rust, peeling paint, and contaminants from steel, concrete, and other materials to ensure optimal adhesion of industrial coatings. This is essential in industries like oil & gas, wastewater, manufacturing, and infrastructure.
What is the difference between sandblasting and abrasive blasting?
Blasting with sand is heavily restricted and not used in mobile situations anymore. The correct term is abrasive blasting but the general population still refers to the service as sandblasting which is why we use it here as well. Abrasive blasting uses metal slag products, crushed glass aluminum oxide, steel shot and grit, plastic media, glass beads, garnet, and walnut shells.
How long does a typical sandblasting job take?
Single silos can be abrasive blasted in as little as 1 day depending on height and access. An empty 150,000sqft warehouse with peeling ceilings could be abrasive blasted in 2 to 3 weeks depending on how many crews and how many shifts are working on it.
How does sandblasting affect the overall painting cost?
The cost of sandblasting typically depends on the type of abrasive used and the extent of surface preparation needed. However, it significantly improves paint adhesion and longevity, reducing long-term maintenance costs. Contact us to get more precise estimates.
